About the Role (Job Purpose)

This senior leadership role for someone with prior experience of operational management in high-density compute environments, that will operate within a multidisciplinary support structure, with six direct reports across HR, HSE, site coordination, and technical managers, alongside oversight of soft service subcontractors including catering and cleaning.

You will have direct line management responsibility for six managers with overall management of FTEs within the Data Center Technical Services team, as well as on-site subcontractors.

The role requires close coordination with a broad range of internal and external stakeholders, including subcontractors delivering both soft services and critical functions such as security, as well as the Nscale GPU team and central functions.

What You’ll be Doing (Responsibilities)

Operations, Reliability & Service Delivery

  • Ensure the data center facility operates as a reliable, high-performance platform for service delivery
  • Ensure high availability, operational stability, and secure customer delivery through structured planning, execution, and risk management
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee preventive and corrective maintenance, with full ownership of quality, risk, and timelines
  • Drive the effective use and continuous improvement of the Service Management System
  • Identify and implement improvements to reduce risk, increase efficiency, and enhance overall operational performance

Leadership, Incident & Stakeholder Management

  • Lead and develop multidisciplinary teams across electrical, mechanical, cooling, automation, security, and support functions
  • Act as Incident Commander during major incidents, ensuring effective coordination with ITSM
  • Collaborate closely with IT teams to align facility and compute operations

Governance, Suppliers & Compliance

  • Manage supplier performance to ensure delivery in line with contractual, quality, and timeline expectations
  • Support budgeting for maintenance, upgrades, and utilities, with a focus on cost efficiency and control
  • Ensure compliance with HSE standards and actively contribute to a strong safety culture

Skills, Qualifications & Experience

  • Leadership experience: Proven leadership experience in structured environments, such as defence, critical infrastructure, or similar industries.
  • Engineering background: Strong demonstrable engineering background in data center services.
  • Industry experience: Experience working in mission-critical environments, within AI/HPC or data centers.
  • Technical knowledge: Strong technical and organisational understanding, with experience working across multiple engineering disciplines.
  • Health, safety and compliance: Strong understanding of safety, compliance, and regulatory standards.
  • Language skills: Professional fluency in both Norwegian and English (written and spoken) is required, as the role involves interaction with local teams and a global corporate organisation.

  • Educational background: Degree or certification in electrical, mechanical or automation engineering.
