About the Role (Job Purpose)
We are seeking a detail-oriented, analytical, and people-focused Payroll & HR Operations Specialist to join our team. In this role, you will be the backbone of our employee experience, ensuring that our HR systems, operational processes, and payroll run like a finely tuned machine.
As a Senior Consultant, you won’t just execute tasks—you will own them. You will act as a trusted advisor to management, optimize existing workflows, ensure strict compliance with labor laws, and
lead critical HR project initiatives. If you thrive at the intersection of data accuracy, compliance, and employee satisfaction, this role is for you.
What You’ll be Doing (Responsibilities)
Your responsibilities will span across HR administration, end-to-end payroll management, and process optimization:
- Payroll Ownership: Oversee and execute the end-to-end payroll process accurately and on time, including salary calculations, benefits, deductions, bonuses, and tax withholdings.
- HR Operations & Administration: Manage the full employee lifecycle administration, from seamless onboarding and contract management to offboarding and exit compliance.
- Process Optimization: Evaluate current HR and payroll workflows to identify bottlenecks,
implementing automation and smarter strategies to scale our operations. - Compliance, Collective Agreements & Audits: Ensure absolute alignment with the Norwegian Working Environment Act (Arbeidsmiljøloven), local tax regulations (Skatteetaten), and GDPR. You will navigate and implement rules related to working hours, holiday pay (Feriepenger), and collective bargaining agreements (Tariffavtaler) if applicable.
- Data & Statutory Reporting (Norway): Maintain pristine data integrity within our HRIS and payroll systems. Beyond standard monthly, quarterly, and ad-hoc metrics (headcount, turnover,
etc.) for leadership, you will own all statutory reporting to Norwegian authorities. This includes the timely and accurate submission of the monthly A-melding to NAV, Skatteetaten, and SSB, managing Sykepenger (sick leave reimbursement claims), and ensuring strict compliance with local pension (OTP) and insurance reporting requirements. - Employee Support: Act as the primary point of contact for complex employee inquiries regarding payroll, benefits, leave policies, and HR systems, resolving issues with empathy and clarity.
About You (Skills / Qualifications Experience)
You are a numbers person with a human touch. You possess the analytical mindset required for payroll and the emotional intelligence needed for HR.
- Experience: 5+ years of progressive experience in HR Operations and Payroll management, preferably in a fast-paced or consulting environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, Finance, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Payroll Expertise: Deep, hands-on knowledge of payroll processing, tax regulations, year-end reporting, and statutory compliance.
- Legislation: Deep knowledge of the Norwegian Working Environment Act (Arbeidsmiljøloven).
- Tech-Savvy: Advanced proficiency with modern HRIS platforms (e.g., Workday, SuccessFactors) and payroll software, alongside strong Excel skills (VLOOKUPs, pivot tables).
- Attention to Detail: ****An eagle eye for detail; you catch discrepancies before they become issues.
- Communication: Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain complex payroll or policy concepts simply.
- Location requirement: The role is an on-site role – not remote or hybrid.
What We Can Offer You
- Competitive salary negotiable based on experience
- Performance-based bonus tied to results and company performance
- Opportunity to lead operations in a rapidly scaling AI infrastructure environment
- Relocation package if required
