About the Role (Job Purpose)

The Mechanical Technical Expert will serve as the leading authority on mechanical systems within a high-growth data center campus in Narvik (25MW and 75MW). This facility supports critical infrastructure for one of the largest global organisations driving the AI revolution.

In this role, you will ensure the performance and efficiency of cooling and mechanical systems that are essential to data center operations. As the campus expands, you will have the opportunity to influence system design, optimisation, and operational strategy, supporting increased capacity and evolving technical requirements.

What You’ll be Doing (Responsibilities)

• Act as the subject matter expert for mechanical systems (e.g., cooling, HVAC, chillers)
• Support operations, maintenance, and troubleshooting of mechanical infrastructure
• Support development of site documentation and procedures relating to mechnical systems
• Lead commissioning, testing, and performance validation
• Lead root cause analysis and drive continuous improvements
• Be responsible for the operational reliability of all site mechanical systems
• Provide technical guidance and leadership to teams and subcontractors
• Ensure systems operate efficiently, reliably and align with compliance requirements
• Support design reviews, upgrades, and commissioning activities
• Identify and implement process and system improvements

Skills & Qualifications

• Strong data center experience (hyperscaler or AI preferred)
• Deep expertise in mechanical systems management (HVAC, air and liquid cooling, chillers)
• Proven experience in maintaining and optimising critical mechanical infrastructure
• Strong understanding of mechanical system design and operation
• Experience supporting commissioning and system upgrades
• A Category B driving license is desirable
